i live in a really small town. we have two dance studios. the first being absolutley horrible, and the second being okay. i go to the second. but the thing is that they arent stricked at all and i really dont feel all that accomplished when i dance. should i try to convince my mom in letting me go somewhere out of town? i really love dance and maybe this is what i should do.

If you really love dance and want to progress more, then go for it, of course!

To the anon with the eating disorder, I've been where you've been. So please, don't stress. Just relax, go over the basics, your feet, extensions, all that. Make sure you eat a healthy breakfast the day of, stretch, roll your shoulders back and walk into that audition with a confident smile on your face. You're amazing and will be just fine! : )

So I have been in treatment for an eating disorder so I wasn't able to dance for a little over 3 months. I will be trying out for my old comp team in a couple weeks and I feel so unprepared. Are there any combos and stretches that you think would help me be more prepared?

First of all, I hope you are doing well, and I’m so happy you’re able to dance again.

Secondly, I think the basics are the most important. Simple tendus, releves, and plies are all really great. I have a video (should be tagged as “video” or “videos”) of my stretching routine that is really great for flexibility.

modern dance is barefoot. anything used to cover your foot is used so that you dont have to get callouses basically. its kind of a cheat that lots of people use. my school does it barefoot though (i love it that way its more fun)

Neither foot thongs nor FootUndeez. Modern dance is done BAREFOOT.

i think foot undeez look better

I prefer foot thongs myself, but I think it's more of a personal preference thing as opposed to which is better

footunddez. much more comfertable to dance in.

I like foot thongs better. I rather just dance barefoot, but if I had to choose... foot thongs would be my pick

to the anon who asked about foot undies and foot thongs, there both good it just depends which you perfer. Foot thongs go in between every toe while foot undies only goes between big toe and the second toe.

heyy i love your blog! I'm 15 and I've been dancing since september and I love it more than anything. My dance teacher says I can do the summer camp at my studio even though your suppose to have three years of experience, and I'm excited but I'm terrified because everyones gunna be crazy good. Im trying to stretch three times a day and run and stuf to get ready, but how else can i improve? I really need to become better, I know ill struggle but I wanna servive.

Work hard and practice everyday. Everyone else may be really good, but if they’re not working hard or dedicated, then it doesn’t matter. Just put your heart and soul into it and do your best, and everyone will be proud of you for that!

Just keep practicing and be determined!

So I have been looking for a new pair of footUndeez and I cam accross something called foot thongs, so I was wondering what would be better for lyrical and modern dance. FootUndeez or Foot thongs?

I have no idea, sorry! Followers?

hey, where did you get that 'ballet, like a sport only harder' shirt from?

My mom said “online at… Cafe… Something?”
Haha she probably just googled ballet shirts or something. I think she means cafepress. Try that :)

I'm not even a professional dancer but I can so relate to this blog. <3

Hahaha I’ve only danced for a year and I relate to this blog. You don’t need to be a pro to relate to dance :)

Another good yoga move for back flexibility is bow. I like to hold bow for a while before doing acro or anything with back bends.

Thank you! :)

Hi! I love your blog very much! (: I have a question about gaining flexibility. How can you gain flexibility in your back? That is the place in my body where I'm the least flexible at and it's holding me back from doing stuff.

Yoga has made my back much more flexible! Try doing cobra, downward dog, cat stretch, bridge, and wheel!

Hey I've been dancing for nearly 13 years now, and my flexability still is not where it should be. I just got my splits and I was wondering how could I work on flexability, my teacher told me a split everyday should suffice, but that doesn't even have an affect. Could you give me some flexability tips?

If you scroll down I just answered this. :) Stretch everyyyy day and hold it and breaaathe.
